Dream of Lithuania
Day 1: Arrival in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania. Meet and transfer to the hotel in the old town/centre. Welcome drink and time to explore Old Vilnius on your own. Dinner and overnight in Vilnius.
Day 2: Sightseeing of Vilnius, UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Trakai (28 km), medieval capital of Grand Lithuanian Duchy among lakes. Visit Trakai Island Castle (C.15). Lunch in a restaurant on the bank of the lake. Late afternoon return to Vilnius. Dinner and overnight in Vilnius.
Sightseeing of Vilnius features: Cathedral Square, prominent monument of gothic architecture Church of St. Anne, Dawn Gate Chapel containing miraculous image of St.Mary, Russian Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit, Old University campus, Town Hall Square, Presidential Palace, interior of Baroque style masterpiece Church of St. Peter and Paul.
Sightseeing in Trakai National Historical Park highlights medieval fortresses- Island and Peninsula Castles, situated in one of the most impressive and picturesque locations in Europe.
Day 4: Kaunas City tour. Departure to Palanga (230 km). Late afternoon arrival to the most popular summer resort spa of Palanga. Accommodation at 3*hotel. White sand beaches, seeing-off the sun on the famous pier is a ritual with holiday makers. Dinner and overnight in Palanga/Klaipeda.
Sightseeing of Kaunas, provisional capital of Lithuania (1919-1939) highlights the Old Castle, Town Hall known as White Swan, gothic architecture masterpiece Perkunas House, main street Laisves Alley, etc. Visit Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis National Museum of Art or amazing Devils Museum.
Day 5: Full day trip to Curonian Spit National Park, UNESCO World Heritage site. Crossing by ferry the Curonian Lagoon. Drive passing by old fisherman villages of Neringa. Sightseeing en route in Juodkrante and the main resort Nida. Dinner and overnight in Palanga/Klaipeda.
Sightseeing in Curonian Spit, unique nature location, the so called Lithuanian Sahara, features narrow 3,8 km-0,4 km width peninsula where the highest in Europe white sand dunes are to be admired. Climb the Witches Hill in Juodkrante to wonder amazing wooden statues. Sightseeing in Nida highlights historical facts of Lithuanian Prussia, including visit to the summer house of Nobel prize winner German writer Thomas Mann, favourite holiday place of German artists in 1930-ies, Lutheran church and old cemetery, Mizgiris Amber Gallery-Museum.
Day 6: Morning sightseeing in Palanga. Departure to Vilnius via Klaipeda harbour. City tour en route and lunch in Klaipeda. Continue to Vilnius via Hill of Crosses. Stop for lunch in a fancy restaurant Seduva Mill. Late afternoon arrival in Vilnius. Accommodation and overnight in Vilnius.
Sightseeing Klaipeda/ Memel, interim capital of Prussia during Napoleon war times, highlights former residence of Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III, as well as traces of German culture imprinted on the main Theatre Square, the layout and architecture of the old town.
Visit Hill of Crosses, honoured by Roman Pope Joan Paul II. Small and large crosses, erected as far back as 19th c., turned the place into a symbol of spiritual resistance. Crosscarving craft as unique spiritual art has been inscribed into UNESCO World Heritage List.
Day 7: Departure. End of services.
